A GROWING BODY OF KNOWLEDGE
Every discipline now has recognized the need to review the human predicament relative to sustainability of our way of life. Climate change and global warming are now subject to study from many facets - from signs of their existence - the consequences of their persistence - the means to mitigate against the worst consequences.
The essential background reading for all concerned with sustainability begins perhaps with the authoritative technological forecast by the Club of Rome scientists' report ëThe Limits to Growth' first published in the 70s and recently updated as ëLimits to Growth 30 years on'. The software models which underlie the observation and conclusions of these two publications are demonstrated in the CD accompanying the latter publication and demonstrate the likely consequences of how and when mankind starts to tackle the problems of population growth, consumption of non-renewable resources, pollution of the environment and unsustainable exploitation of the planet.
